Challenge

Car insurance companies rely on zip codes, credit scores, age, and data from those sneaky third-party apps on your phone to determine how much you pay. If the purpose of auto insurance is to protect Illinois’ 8.5 million motorists, it only makes sense that the driving record should be the primary factor for setting a driver’s rates.

The Illinois Secretary of State launched a campaign to spotlight unfair auto‑insurance practices and mobilize public support for meaningful reform.
